(African Trade Research Center News) Nigeria has a pleasant climate and fertile land, which is very suitable for agricultural production.

In fact, before the discovery of oil, agriculture played a prominent role in Nigeria’s economic development, and it was the main source of Nigeria’s foreign exchange income and the main contributor to GDP. At the same time, agriculture is also the main source of life and production materials for Nigeria’s national food supply, industrial raw materials and other sectors.

But now, in the overall economic downturn in Nigeria, insufficient financial resources and weak profits have severely restricted the development of Nigeria's agricultural industry.

A large amount of cheap labor, including skilled and unskilled workers, urgently needs to be absorbed and invested in the production of food and industrial raw materials for commercial development of agriculture, which is also a prerequisite for entrepreneurship.

Therefore, there are unlimited business opportunities in Nigeria's comprehensive agricultural development, processing and export fields, and rubber planting is one of them.

First started with rubber planting. The glue harvested from mature rubber trees can be processed into grade 10 and grade 20 imported natural rubber standard rubber blocks with considerable profits, whether it is the tires and other rubber products industry in Nigeria or the international market. The demand and price of natural rubber are both at a high level. The aforementioned two levels of natural rubber exports have huge profit margins. As far as Nigeria’s current economic situation is concerned, exporters can earn a lot of foreign exchange.

Project location
The location of the project is very important for rubber planting and processing. It needs to be where the raw materials can be regularly, continuously, and easily obtained in order to reduce transportation costs, reduce production costs as much as possible, and increase profits.

According to relevant research findings, the southwestern region of Nigeria has convenient transportation and developed road networks, making it suitable for site selection. Including 13 states including Anambra, Imo, Abia, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Orson, Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, etc. .

Planting development
In addition to convenient transportation and natural conditions, the aforementioned states have vast arable land suitable for planting and can provide rubber processing plants with a steady stream of raw rubber raw materials. After acquiring the land, it can be developed into a rubber plantation through purchase, transplantation and planting.

In 3 to 7 years, rubber forests will mature for harvesting. Under the condition of ensuring that the processing plant works in two shifts a day and the working intensity of each shift is 8 hours, the maximum output of the rubber harvested in the peak season of rubber harvesting can produce 2000 kg or 1000 metric tons of dry rubber per month.

Factory land
3,600 square meters (120 meters * 30 meters) of land is sufficient for the construction of factory buildings and administrative blocks, including details necessary for investment, such as building types and materials-roofs, walls, floors, etc. can be covered.

According to the analysis of the African Trade Research Center, insufficient financial resources and weak profits are currently two important factors restricting the development of Nigeria's agriculture. Therefore, Nigeria is actively developing the production of food and industrial raw materials to commercialize Nigeria’s traditional agriculture. At present, Nigeria has unlimited business opportunities in comprehensive agricultural development, processing and export, and rubber planting is one of them. Due to the high demand and price of natural rubber in Nigeria's domestic and international markets, foreign companies investing in Nigeria's natural rubber planting, processing and export industries may usher in new opportunities.
