ARCH is an innovation driven producer of solutions for polymers containing carbon nanotubes .Equipment includes methods of combinations, dispersion and exfoliation of nano materials. The environmental health and safety of nano species, cradle to grave is a subject that has EU focus (NMP Expert Advisor EAG Nov 2009) and this has been an important focus for the company because of its involvement in carbon nanotube manufacture and distribution. This engineered nano particle offers a number of important technological features that will enable society to solve some of its larger problems, for example global warming through the new cnt based PV solutions, however there is still some science and regulatory hurdles to be navigated.` The company is able to conduct life cycle assessments.
Role in the project:ARCH will select the conductive nanoparticles to be added in the compounding process in order to enhance thermal conductivity of polyolefins. The best nanoparticles functionalization procedures, and possible nanoparticles synergic mixtures, will be explored together with AIT. They will also provide information for Economic, regulatory, health, safety, toxicology and environmental studies. Contribution to the dissemination activities and exploitation and IPR issues.
