Recently, Clariant announced that under the trend that plastics manufacturers increasingly use biodegradable polymers, Clariant’s pigment business unit has launched a series of OK compost-certified pigment products, providing customers with new coloring options.
Clariant said that nine selected products of Clariant's PV Fast and Graphtol series now have the OK compost certification label. As long as the concentration used in the final application does not exceed the maximum concentration limit, it fully complies with the European Union EN 13432: 2000 standard.
According to reports, PV Fast and Graphtol series pigment toners are high-performance organic pigments. These two product lines can be used in various consumer goods industry applications, such as demanding food contact packaging, plastic tableware/ware, or toys. The coloring of biodegradable polymers requires pigments to meet certain characteristics before they can be considered degradable. For processing through organic recycling facilities, low levels of heavy metals and fluorine are required, and they are not eco-toxic to plants.
