Will PETG replace pet in bottles and cosmetics in the future?

Pet has been industrialized for many years. The biggest problem is that the process is injection more than that of PE and PETG.  Even if it is a one-step process, the production cost is high (including mold cost and mechanical cost). Although the raw material price of PETG is more expensive than pet, it feels that the hardness, smoothness and post-processing ability of PETG products are better than that of pet.

In some light bottles and cosmetics applications will have advantages over pet, but why did PETG not replace pet? What are its future applications and advantages? Do pet and PETG react differently with media (water, wine or compounds)?
