Why are the interiors of many low-end and mid-range cars made of cheap hard plastic?
Are car interior materials expensive? Even if it is filled with a little sponge and covered with fake skin, it is much better than hard plastic. Or is it a marketing method to differentiate between high-end models?

There are many requirements, such as flame retardant, high temperature and aging resistance, and ultraviolet radiation environmental protection fatigue. Cars are not made of sofas, and there are many requirements. "Hard plastic" is the cheapest material that meets the conditions.
