3D printing technology type:
1. FDM: Fused deposition rapid prototyping, the main materials are ABS and PLA.
The materials of the melt extrusion molding (FDM) process are generally thermoplastic materials, such as wax, ABS, PC, nylon, etc., which are fed in filaments. The material is heated and melted in the nozzle. The nozzle moves along the part's cross-sectional contour and filling trajectory, and at the same time extrudes the melted material, the material quickly solidifies and bonds with the surrounding materials. Each layer is accumulated on the upper layer, and the upper layer plays a role of positioning and supporting the current layer.
2. SLA: Light curing molding, the main material is photosensitive resin.
Light curing forming is the earliest rapid prototyping process. Its principle is based on the principle of photopolymerization of liquid photosensitive resin. This liquid material can rapidly undergo photopolymerization under the irradiation of ultraviolet light of a certain wavelength (x=325nm) and intensity (w=30mw). The molecular weight increases sharply, and the material changes from liquid to solid.
Light-curing molding is currently the most studied method, and it is also the most technologically mature method. Generally, the layer thickness is 0.1 to 0.15mm, and the precision of the formed parts is higher.
3. 3DP: three-dimensional powder bonding, the main material powder material, such as ceramic powder, metal powder, plastic powder.
The three-dimensional printing (3DP) process was developed by Emanual Sachs et al., Massachusetts Institute of Technology. E.M.Sachs applied for the 3DP (Three-Dimensional Printing) patent in 1989, which is one of the core patents in the field of droplet spray forming of non-forming materials. The 3DP process is similar to the SLS process, using powder materials such as ceramic powder and metal powder.
4. SLS: Selective laser sintering, the main material is powder material.
The SLS process is also called selective laser sintering and was successfully developed in 1989 by C.R. Dechard of the University of Texas at Austin. The SLS process is formed using powdered materials.
Spread the material powder on the upper surface of the formed part and scrape it flat; use a high-intensity CO2 laser to scan the section of the part on the newly laid layer; the material powder is sintered together under high-intensity laser irradiation to obtain The cross-section of the part is bonded with the formed part below; when the cross-section of one layer is sintered, a new layer of material powder is laid, and the cross-section of the lower layer is selectively sintered.
5. LOM: divided into physical manufacturing, the main materials are paper, metal film, and plastic film.
The LOM process is called layered entity manufacturing and was successfully developed in 1986 by Michael Feygin of Helisys, USA. The company has launched two types of forming machines, LOM-1050 and LOM-2030. The LOM process uses thin materials such as paper and plastic film. The surface of the sheet is coated with a layer of hot melt adhesive in advance.
6. PCM: Moldless manufacturing technology
Patternless Casting Manufacturing (PCM) was developed by the Laser Rapid Prototyping Center of Tsinghua University. It is time to apply the rapid prototyping technology to the traditional resin sand casting process. First, get the mold CAD model from the part CAD model. The STL file of the mold CAD model is layered to obtain the section profile information, and then the control information is generated from the layer information.
