How to choose the research direction of polymer materials graduate students?

I'm going to take part in the summer camp. I want to determine the research direction I'm interested in, but I can't start. I have participated in some processing experiments in my undergraduate course. I want to do energy polymer in the future. I don't know what the future development and current situation are?
