HISTORY

PPM was founded in 1968 by Murray Gerber, an MIT graduate engineer. The company initially focused on building plastic molds for prototypes, especially for the aerospace industry. Over time, this evolved into mold building of aluminum and steel molds, both for prototypes and production, and eventually injection molding.

Growth objectives and market needs led to a diversification into a diverse OEM customer base, while these customers’ requirements for tight tolerance parts and differing operating environments led to a proliferation in the use of many engineering resins and the establishment of a separate value added operations department, to finish the injection molded components, whether machining them to required tolerances, installing inserts, ultrasonically welding components, or silkscreening.

Vic de Jong acquired PPM in 1999, and has led the company to its current position as a preferred single source supplier of injection molded based parts, assemblies, and products. To secure PPM’s position for growth, given the demanding environment at both the OEM customer and PPM level, de Jong has built a capable management team, invested in the company’s infrastructure, including new equipment, engineering and design software (SOLIDWORKS), and management processes, including a ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D Registered quality management level systems.

The most recent added service, is the ability to assist customers’ engineering personnel by providing SLA models and rapid prototypes as part of the development process. This need was expressed by a number of PPM customers and is a logical addition to PPM’s capabilities.
