Polybag, or polythene bag as some might call it, is perhaps the most common type of plastic packaging used. Polybags are manufactured from polythene, short form of Polyethylene, hence the name 'Polybag'. There are so many types and sizes of these plastic bags that fitting them all in this website wouldn't be possible, so we will only list here some of the usual ones.
Polybags are manufactured from a continuous roll of plastic know as layflat tubing or LFT which is then cut and sealed to the required size.
Polythene bags can also be produced with different thicknesses or gauge in the UK and can range from 80 to 1000 gauge. They can be manufactured from different materials as well depending on what they are going to be used for. LDPE (Low Density Polythenelene) for example is used to make the so used vest style shopping bag. Where more strength is needed, rubble sacks are a good example, HDPE can be used. Some materials have different properties such as electro-conductivity used in anti-static bags.
