Plastic Coatings
This technique involves dipping a heated
article into a tank of fluidised plastic powder. This process is widely
accepted as the most efficient means of coating wire ware, tubular
frames, metal pressings and other open design metal products.
Powder coating
Powder coating is the technique of electro
statically applying dry paint to a part as against normal wet paints.
Wet paints are predominantly solvents which evaporate into the
atmosphere causing environmental concerns. Powder Coatings on the other
hand are 100% solids which electro statically adhere to the component to
form a hard coating similar to that of 2-pack wet paint. We at Polydip
can also provide an assembly and packing service.
POLYETHYLENE
Low density polyethylene (LDPE) is the
most widely used, low cost coating material for decorative wirework. It
gives a good gloss finish, is slightly waxy to the touch, has no
toxicity or taint characteristics and is, therefore, ideal for use on
refrigerator shelves, clothes airers, dish drainers and many kitchen
wire products. LDPE is not, however, usually recommended for outdoor
applications, as it can be affected by the ultra-violet rays of
sunlight.
