During our visit to India in 2012 I am met a group of very talented artisans who were adversely affected by industrialization and urbanization. They were forced to give up their family artisan-ship and were doing hard labor. They were earning minimum wages and struggling to make a living.I started Pearl Fashion BD combining our passion for natural and handmade products with the mission of creating opportunities for skilled artisans. Green Jute is a platform for them to get back to practicing their craft and make a decent living.Today at Pearl Fashion BD we bring our unique talent and skill not only to create economic opportunities for our families but also to produce world class, unique, socially responsible, and quality products that you not only love but be proud of!Emphasis on Jute: Jute is a 100% bio-degradable plant fiber. It is very strong, durable and is a great Eco-friendly alternative for a variety of life-style products. Jute plant grows abundantly in parts of Asia including India, Bangladesh. Jute is Eco-friendly: Jute plants have high carbon dioxide (CO2) assimilation rate and it clean the air by consuming large quantities of CO2, which is the main cause of the greenhouse effect. Theoretically, one hectare of jute plants can consume about 15 tons of CO2 from atmosphere and release about 11 tons of oxygen in the 100 days of the jute-growing season. Studies also show that the CO2 assimilation rate of jute is several times higher than that of trees. Jute is sustainable: Jute is an annually renewable and sustainable resource with a high biomass production per unit land area. Jute is a fast-growing seasonal crop. It reaches a height of 1.5 to 4.5 meters in a period of 4 to 5 months. Jute is 100% bio-degradable: It is biodegradable and its products can be easily disposed without causing any environmental hazards. Jute is Organic: No fertilizers and pesticides are used in jute harvesting as the previous harvest provides enrichment for current one. Jute acts as a barrier to pest and diseases for others crops and provides also a substantial amount of nutrients to other crops in the form of organic matter and micro nutrients. The roots of jute plants play a vital role in increasing the fertility of the soil. Jute for reusable bags: Bags made from jute fiber have been used in Asian countries for years and Jute has proved to be the best material for reusable everyday use bags. Number one reason is the strength of the jute fiber/yarn. Whether you use the bag for grocery shopping, or for hauling library books, it can easily carry 25-30 lbs of weight on a regular basis for years to go.
