New Boston RTM has maintained their roots at their original New Boston, Michigan location, which began business in 1965 as Merri Mac Products, a small, custom open molding company that specialized in pickup truck caps and raised van roofs for the van conversion market.
Current President and CEO Mike Angerer bought Merri Mac in 1978, changed the name of the company to New Boston Fiberglass and immediately began to expand the company’s product offerings. In addition to adding new van and truck accessories to the product mix, Mike also ventured into the mass transit industry and several non-automotive markets. The range of products included dog kennels, institutional laundry carts, and a variety of after-market aircraft components.
Mike began to research alternative fiberglass production methods in the early 1990s, just as closed molding technology was in its early stages of development. Convinced that closed molding was a profitable niche, he invested in the latest equipment and training, changed the company name to New Boston Composites, and the evolution continued.
New Boston RTM is conveniently located in suburban Detroit, near a major interstate and international airport. Their facilities have grown to encompass two adjoining factories covering over 20,000 sq. ft. of design, production, finishing and shipping space, with 65 RTM injection production cells.
