Established in 1945, we are a Public Limited Company (PLC) with an annual turnover in excess of four billion rupees.
The trading activities of the Company include the export of Sri Lanka's traditional commodities such as Natural Rubber, Desiccated Coconut and Coconut Fibre as well as non-traditional goods such as Spices. The Companys subsidiaries include Eamel Exports Ltd. and Asia Brush (Pvt) Ltd., of which the former handles the export of local Spices and Handicrafts.
Asia Brush (Pvt) Ltd. is involved in the manufacture and export of Industrial and household brushes and brooms. Additionally, Asian Woodware Company (Pvt) Ltd. is an Associate Company of Eastern Merchants which manufactures and exports furniture and other wooden products.
The Company now operates from its own modern premises in the best commercial area of the city and has its warehouse complex in an industrial estate in the suburbs of the city. The Company also operates another office and warehouse complex in the heart of the Cinnamon growing area, located in the southern parts of the island. These facilities are solely devoted to the purchasing, processing and storing of Cinnamon.
