Broward Paper & Packaging was started in the spirit of the "Old West". That spirit was emulated by Joseph J. Novick, BPP's founder and owner, who was a pioneer in the south Florida paper market. Having the pioneer spirit, he had the vision, expertise and persistence to establish a paper company in 1954.

With a small facility around the Fort Lauderdale Airport, and making deliveries out of the trunk of his car to fill the needs of the many retail stores in the area, it did not take too long before it was necessary to move to a larger facility in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Flagler Street. With the development and growth of Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach counties, growth within Broward Paper was inevitable. From a few office employees and two salesmen, these departments had to be expanded. These additions served its purpose until about 1973.
