History of the Company
The Company owes its existence to A.M. Rahim, a very senior figure in the rubber trade. He joined Henderson & Company Limited in 1921 and steadily gained the confidence of his superiors due to his dedication and astute business acumen. Over the years he learned all aspects of the Rubber trade from manufacturing to marketing. Eventually, at a time when almost all the business houses in Ceylon were owned and headed by Britishers or Europeans, A.M. Rahim created history by being appointed the first Ceylonese Managing Director of Henderson & Company Ltd., which was then the third largest exporter of rubber from Ceylon.
